Gas Detonation Takes Three Carabinieri While Executing Property Removal Operation in the Verona Area

Three police officers perished and no fewer than 15 others were hurt in an apparently intentional gas explosion at a rural property in the northern part of Italy.

The explosion occurred as officers and emergency crews approached the residence near Verona to enforce an court-ordered eviction for three siblings in their late 50s and mid-60s.

All three deceased individuals belonged to the Carabinieri military police.

Legal Proceedings

A man and a woman were arrested at the site and one more individual who fled following the incident was found shortly later. All three have been admitted to the hospital.

The detonation could be noticed as far as 3 miles distant and photographs from the location displayed the building turned into a mass of wreckage.
