Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
