Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”
